A Word of Thanks
People in this world don’t say thank you often enough, and I am as guilty as anyone else, so thank you for opening and reading my Substack postings.
Lately, my inbox has been full of holiday shopping offers, giving Tuesday requests, and requests for political campaign contributions. Given my limited means, I open and delete most of those without reading. Can any economy where half of all transactions take place during one short season be considered healthy?
Enough said. I am sure you all face the same the same situation. In a world of overcrowded inboxes, you have opened this message and might continue reading. Thank you.
I just updated my table of contents and realized that this project has shown a series of bursts of energy for one topic and then another. Most recently, I have shared several posts reporting what I have learned about Chattanooga’s most famous naturalist, Robert Sparks Walker. The reseach began when I served as President of the Chattanooga Audubon Society which he founded. At one time I had hoped to write a book about him, so there is more, but I will spare you those posts for now.
For the immediate future I will review works by some of my favorite authors in a video format. I would love to record these videos outdoors, but I live close to an expressway, so the ambient noise would likely make the results unbearable. It was quiet when I first moved here. As The Lorax once said, sometimes progress progresses too fast.
Thank you, and I hope you have a wonderful holiday season, whatever holiday you may be celebrating this winter. I am planning on a Merry Christmas myself. If you reply to this post, your feedback will arrive in a less crowded, less publicized inbox which I check frequently.
