Yesterday, visited the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge. I visit at least once each year, while the Sandhill Cranes are there, and I encourage anyone who has not been there before to visit at least once. If you go between Thanksgiving and President’s Day, you will see a few hundred majestic cranes.

I made this audio recording of Sandhill Cranes with a parabolic microphone I recently aquired. The price tells me it may have initially been designed as a toy, but it yields good quality sound and I plan to incorporate nature sounds in upcoming editions of Crane’s Eye View.

Hey Ray-- wonderful to see you and hear the cranes in the background. It reminds me of Southeast Alaska and our many hikes and the sounds of the Sandhills--unforgettable. Tell me was it easy to upload video and voice to your sub stack feed? I ask, because I am looking around for a website ...maybe something different from Word Press (which I have used previously) to voice poems and use as a poet's website. But, I a do not want to charge money....
Is your location there actually on Priddy Rd?
