I saw him read from Billy Watson's Croaker Sack here in Chattanooga in 2005, the year it was published. It was at the Conference on Southern Literature, a biennial event killed by the 2008 economic downturn. Wendell Berry and several other heavyweights were regulars. It has been resurrected in a much-reduced form. In 2005 I obtained an autographed copy of the book.
